Why Networked Software Beats Out Standalone for Project Teams

Does your project team run its Autodesk software applications on their individual computers? If you’re still working in an environment where every individual is running software applications as standalone licenses, you may want to consider adopting a networked license approach to maximize efficiency within your organization.

What is Constructware?

Constructware is “software as a service” product similar to the BIM 360 suite of products. It lives in the cloud, thereby eliminating back-ups and new software installations. Upkeep and maintenance are all taken care of as part of the license fee. It is available immediately to the licensee.

Constructware is the best software package available in the field of construction project management. It is an advanced tool that is valuable to most types of building construction. It features document management, risk management, and cost management. All information is available to all licensed users. Additionally, information can be sent out of Constructware by email to anyone. Companies can also share documents via a public folder, although the folders themselves are managed by a set of user permissions. The immediate access to every facet of the project allows for better and faster decisions, thereby streamlining the whole construction and cost-management enterprise.

The accessibility of all information about a project is one of the features that makes this software so useful and important to the entire project management team. It eliminates islands of proprietary information. It is easy to learn and easy to use: if you can use a web browser, you can use Constructware.

Graphics Related Problems With Autodesk Software

September 12, 2013 By Advanced Solutions Leave a comment

If you experience symptoms of graphics related problems with your Autodesk software (e.g. software not starting, terminating during startup, problems with panning and zooming, Fatal Errors, Unhandled Exceptions, rendering errors, artifacts appearing in drawings and models, computer desktop showing in viewports, etc.) then the following suggestions may help optimize your machine’s performance with respect to graphics.

The Autodesk Certified Hardware page recommends suitable video hardware and drivers for current Autodesk products. It may be necessary to upgrade/downgrade your video graphics hardware driver version.

You may also find that your video graphics hardware is either unsupported or untested for use with your Autodesk product. Unsupported video graphics hardware does not provide all the features & 3D graphic capabilities required by Autodesk products.

Mirror video card drivers often get installed along with remote desktop software (e.g. LogMeIn®, Dameware®, etc.). Mirror video card drivers conflict with main video card drivers, causing errors in graphics intensive applications like those from Autodesk. Mirror video card drivers can be uninstalled from the Device Manager on the Windows Control Panel (Start Menu button > Control Panel > Device Manager > expand the Display Adapters tree > right-click the LogMeIn adapter and select Uninstall from the menu > restart the computer after the process completes).

Once a Networked License has been purchased it will require a Networked License Manager (LMTools) to distribute licenses.

  1. Browse to and download the appropriate LMTools for your server:
  2. Once you have downloaded the software you will need to install it on the server.
  3. Run the nlm<version_ip_os>.exe file.
  4. You will be prompted to extract the files.
  5. Select Browse and save the files to C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Autodesk Network License Manager
*Note: If you do not have the above location then please create it.
