Points from Alignment using Civil 3D Surface Elevations (bilingual)

I recently was involved in two seperate support cases for Civil 3D, where the software users asked for assistance with alignment using surface elevations. I decided to create this blog post as a quick reference on this design issue, as well as provide the same information in Spanish.



The Civil 3D users desire was to create points by station/offset and use a surface to determine the elevation at that given station/offset. Since there is no ONE button to push, a workflow is needed:

  1. For ease of use, let’s modify Settings to give points a unique description
  2. Then create points, by method of divide or measure
  3. Next create a point group of points per their unique description
  4. Last, elevate the point in group to desired surface

El usuario Civil 3D deseaba crear puntos por P.K./Desfase y además utilizar una superficie para determinar la elevación. Como no hay un solo botón para llevar acabo esto, un flujo de trabajo es necesario:

Para facilitar el uso, modificaremos la configuración para crear puntos con descripciones únicas.

  1. De ahí crearemos puntos, por el método de Dividir o Medir alineación
  2. Luego se creara un grupo de puntos de puntos usando sus descripciones
  3. Lo último será elevar los puntos en el grupo a la superficie desead.
