Feature Lines have always carried the X,Y (like an Alignment) and the Z (similar to a Profile). I'm glad to finally see this AWESOME update in Civil 3D 2017, giving users the ability to create a Corridor from a Feature Line.

I recently was involved in two seperate support cases for Civil 3D, where the software users asked for assistance with alignment using surface elevations. I decided to create this blog post as a quick reference on this design issue, as well as provide the same information in Spanish.
When the corners get tight with sharp bends, corridor sections will begin to cross one another. This issue is known as a “Bow Tie."
Once a Bow Tie is created, the corridor will not behave as expected and corridor commands will experience issues too.
You can correct this issue a few different ways:
- Modify frequency and sampling settings.
- Add curve to the bend (PI).
- Use a custom assembly in region along with gradings.
