A Partnership Built in BIM: The Ohio State University Story!

August 31, 2015 By April Raque Leave a comment

The Ohio State University started requiring Building Information Modeling (BIM) on projects this year. Ohio State knows, as the building industry evolves, working within a fully engaged BIM project team becomes imperative to the lifecycle of a building.

On September 23rd, you'll be able to meet the team of industry experts responsible for the development of OSU's BIM Standards at the Partnering with Owners on BIM luncheon.

Meet the Woman: Jordan Holt joins the North Carolina AEC Team

March 16, 2015 By April Raque Leave a comment

Jordan Holt
ASI Business Development Manager
North Carolina

For the past four years, Jordan has worked with the North Carolina Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). She worked closely with 2,100 Architect members, across the state, as well as partnering very closely with other organizations, such as: Carolinas AGC, PENC, and ACEC. She gained insight and experience through her involvement with the chapter’s activities, other industry events, and the many contacts she gained, along the way. Jordan has a background in commercial photography, which, given the many parallels, helps her relate to her Architecture clients. Her skills and experience in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry, stem directly from working alongside industry professionals who've educated her about the various aspects of their day to day issues and concerns.

Jordan sees the biggest hurdle, within the AEC, being effective communication. As projects become larger and more defined, with different working parts, involving several companies and contractors, the communication can become convoluted and cause delays, and in some cases, additional costs. She knows it has become imperative to ensure information is accurate throughout the project life and readily available to all parties involved, even after the project is complete.
