What is the Business Value of BIM?

November 09, 2015 By April Raque Leave a comment

"Good Question", you say!

As the building industry evolves, design and construction firms are delivering more valuable information to building owners and operators, through the use of BIM-enabled processes. Owners are increasingly requiring BIM, due to its ability to help make better decisions early in the design process, as well as the long-term benefits it can provide for facilities and operations management.

Transforming Infrastructure with BIM!

October 02, 2015 By April Raque Leave a comment

BIM for Infrastructure is now!

This is your chance to learn how to take advantage of BIM within Infrastructure throughout design, engineering, and construction. As an ever increasing number of infrastructure projects use Building Information Modeling (BIM), many in the industry are realizing they need to embrace BIM to compete and win new work. A range of appealing benefits accompany projects that use a BIM-based approach: less rework, fewer errors, enhanced collaboration, and useful design data.

A Partnership Built in BIM: The Ohio State University Story!

August 31, 2015 By April Raque Leave a comment

The Ohio State University started requiring Building Information Modeling (BIM) on projects this year. Ohio State knows, as the building industry evolves, working within a fully engaged BIM project team becomes imperative to the lifecycle of a building.

On September 23rd, you'll be able to meet the team of industry experts responsible for the development of OSU's BIM Standards at the Partnering with Owners on BIM luncheon.

BIM... I Want It and I Want It, Now!

August 28, 2015 By April Raque Leave a comment

BIM might very well be the goose that laid the golden egg for building owners. As the building industry continues to evolve, design and construction firms are delivering more valuable information to building owners and operators through the use of BIM-enabled processes.

Why not, Give Owners What They Want?

Ken Stowe to Lead LIVE ROI of BIM Workshop

September 04, 2014 By April Raque Leave a comment

For all of the hype around Building Information Modeling (BIM), you would expect industry engagement to be at a record high. Although the adaptation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) has skyrocketed throughout the industry, the engagement still continues to be slowly building momentum. To encourage the engagement of BIM in the industry, Ken Stowe, Autodesk Director of Global Construction Business Development, has developed a live simulcast workshop to discuss how leading construction professionals are measuring the ROI of BIM.

Ken Stowe
Autodesk Director of Global Construction Business Development

If you are...

  • Interested in achieving higher performance in your projects and businesses through Building Information Modeling
  • Wanting to understand the financial benefits of using BIM across a project
  • Unsure of the key stepping-stones of BIM
  • Motivating your team to adopt BIM practices
  • Creating performance initiatives for your projects

...then this is the workshop for you!

At this event, you will learn how to successfully measure the ROI of a BIM project. Ken will address the stepping-stones to BIM maturity and the methods you can use to motivate your organization, including reporting on BIM quality, stakeholder responsiveness, and threats to productivity. You will also learn how to use metrics to help make informed decisions, drive improvement, and develop performance-based initiatives that measure and improves results.

Advanced Solutions will be hosting the live simulcast at three of its locations on September 30th from 11:45am - 3:00pm (EST), including a lunch buffet for you to enjoy while you learn. Ken will begin streaming live from Waltham, Massachusetts at 12:00pm (EST).

If you are in Cincinnati, OH, Louisville, KY or St. Louis, MO on September 30th, please join us for this amazing opportunity. Click here for more details or to register, today!

BIM 360 Glue Add-In for Revit

July 03, 2014 By Thomas J. Kemp Leave a comment

Overview of BIM 360 Glue Add-ins

Teams that have implemented BIM 360 Glue should utilize the Add-ins available to maximize productivity in this collaborative environment. Add-ins are available for all versions of AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks applications and provide a direct link to BIM 360 Glue projects, allowing users to update the model in the cloud without ever leaving the design application.

In my last post in this series, I provided information on where to download the BIM 360 Glue Add-ins and also reviewed the BIM 360 Glue Add-in for Navisworks.

Revit Add-in Functionality

The Revit Add-in includes functionality to upload or download model content directly to/from a BIM 360 Glue project, access clashes clashes identified in Glue, and update properties for equipment based on data collected in the field. The first time any of the Add-in tools are accessed, you will be prompted to enter your BIM 360 Glue login and password.

Glue

To upload current model content to BIM 360 Glue, select the Glue tool. You will first be prompted to select the appropriate Glue project. The Add-in will continue to use the selected project by default until Revit is closed. If you are working on multiple projects, simply select the Back button to select a different project.

BIM 360 Glue Add-In for Navisworks

July 02, 2014 By Thomas J.

Add-in Downloads

Downloads for the Add-ins can be accessed from within the BIM 360 Glue application. Select the Add-ins link from the administration menu under the profile icon in the upper right corner of the application. This will open a webpage with links to all of the available add-in downloads.

There are currently Add-ins available for Revit (2012 - 2015), AutoCAD (2012-2015), Navisworks (Manage and Simulate, 2012-2015) and AutoCAD Civil 3D (2013-2015). Installation of the Add-in is fairly straightforward. Click on the link to download, open the .zip file, and run the installer. You may need to restart Revit/Navisworks/AutoCAD once the installation is complete to access the add-in.
